We all seek happiness. But what does it really mean to live happily? Is it possessing things? Gaining recognition? Or is it something much more subtle and enduring? Happiness isn’t a destination we arrive at—it’s a way of walking through life.
The Spiritual Perspective on Happiness
In ancestral wisdom, being happy isn’t about the absence of pain, but about finding meaning in life.

Wellness
Ancient peoples understood that the heart is the temple of joy. Happiness flourishes when we feel connected to the Whole: nature, spirit, community.
Benze (spiritual blessing) exemplifies this: a simple gesture filled with faith, words, and intention, capable of opening paths and easing the soul’s burdens.
Message from the Benzedeira:
“Living happily means aligning body, mind, and spirit in a harmonious dance; it’s about living in balance.”
But what prevents us from living happily? Often, it’s the illusion that we’ll only be happy “when…”—when we have something, or reach a certain place. Sometimes, it’s a comparison with others or forgetting our own inner light.
The Path to Happiness Is Found in Simple, Practical Choices
Cultivate gratitude daily.
Reconnect with nature and the sacred.
Clear your thoughts and words, transforming them into blessings.
Choose genuine relationships that bring peace.
Serve others with generosity.
Living happily is about recognizing the value of the present moment. It’s learning to bless yourself every day—with the courage to be authentic, to be grateful, and to serve.
Words from the Benzedeira:
“Living happily means waking up every day knowing we are part of Creation, that life is sacred, and that every act of love spreads light around us. Happiness is simple but requires courage: the courage to be truthful, grateful, and to serve.”
An Herbal Bath for Happiness
An herbal bath works on both the energetic field and the heart, bringing lightness, joy, and brightness into life.
Ingredients and Benefits:
Basil (Ocimum basilicum): strengthens the energetic field, opens pathways, and brings emotional balance.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis): renews energy, activates vitality, and awakens joy.
White roses (Rosa alba): elevate vibration and bring purity to the heart.
Lavender (Lavandula officinalis): calms, awakens serenity, and promotes feelings of happiness.
Cinnamon sticks (Cinnamomum verum): attract positive energies, prosperity, and emotional warmth.
Spiritual Energy of the Bath
This bath aims to awaken inner joy, harmonize the spirit, and attract positive vibrations into daily life. It clears resentments and sadness, making the aura lighter and open to happiness.
How to Prepare
Heat 1.5 to 2 liters of water.
Add cinnamon sticks and rosemary (dried or fresh). Boil for 3–5 minutes.
Add fresh lavender and basil. Boil for another 2 minutes.
Turn off the heat, add white rose petals, count to 10, and cover for 20–30 minutes.
Let it cool, and strain if desired.
Take a hygienic shower first.
Pour the bath water slowly from head to toe, front and back.
Do not return to the shower. Pat dry lightly with a towel.
Express gratitude three times:
“Life is sacred. I receive this bath of joy, light, and happiness. May my heart blossom.”
Note from the Benzedeira:
The best day to do this bath is on a Sunday, a sunny day ruled by vitality and expansive energy. It can be repeated once a week for a month. Always thank nature and the spirit of the herbs, acknowledging their strength.
Happiness Prayer
“Great Spirit of Life, teach us to live simply,
to recognize beauty in every detail,
to carry gratitude and peace in our hearts.
May our steps be steady,
our words of blessings,
and our spirits are free to live happily.
So be it, so it shall be.”
Blessing of Roots and Brazilian Popular Culture
Plants, branches, faith, altar, saints, black old men, candles, teas, charms, blessings.
“I bless you, I free you, I heal you, with God, the Goddess, and Marys.
Those who sabotage themselves abandon themselves, and those who abandon themselves lose their thread of life.
Return to yourself, cleanse your body, light up your faith, and walk on.”
